Habiti d'Huomeni et donne venetiane con la processione della serenissime signoria et altri particolari cioe
trionfi, feste, public ceremony of the nobilissima citta of Venetia.
La citta di Venetia con l'origine e governo di quella.
Antonio Turini 1610-1614, Venice.
- The Author Giacomo FRANCO, publisher and remarkable engraver, born in Venice around 1550, had the ambition to do the work of historian, chronicler and witness all at the same time.
It is the political and moral history, as well as military and clothing of the city of the Doges, from the 5th to the 17th century,
which he retraces in 45 plates engraved on copper.
Nothing is missing: neither the festivals which, by their splendor, left an imprint in the memory of the city, nor the regattas which
exalted its magnificence, neither the battles which served its glory, nor the buildings which marked its apotheosis, nor finally
the shimmering of the costumes its inhabitants wore in a splash of gold and precious stones.
- The plates were printed in the workshops of Daniel Jacomet in Montrouge (from the only known illuminated copy)
who also produced the illuminations entirely by hand. The color application technique of the time
was respected and reconstructed by the painter Jean-Marie Ledannois.
The gold and silver used to enhance the engravings required hours of painstaking work.
Daniel Jacomet, art printer born in Paris in 1894, famous for the invention that bears his name, the Jacomet process,
which combines two techniques, collotype and stencil coloring, to which are added specific know-how
finishing and aging of papers. It allows reproductions of unequaled fidelity, in particular of works of art.
- The publisher Fernand Pouillon is an architect with an atypical, flamboyant and tumultuous career
Le Jardin de Flore is an ambitious attempt to rethink and renew the publishing of rare and precious books.
Fernand Pouillon has used the best craftsmen, the most exceptional techniques and materials
for these reissues, at a time when books and printing were entering the electronic age.
Created in 1973 to save major books and share essential knowledge for any builder
The Jardin de Flore has set itself the task of republishing works of great reputation, mostly old
and therefore impossible to find, with the help of craftsmen, and to satisfy, thanks to their experience, the real bibliophiles.
Sometimes centuries-old techniques are applied to resuscitate masterpieces, and to highlight
recent works whose notoriety justifies a refined new edition. An editor is defined from the outset by
its catalogue: the choice of titles entails that of the processes which make it possible to create or recreate books,
each testifying to the research of which it was the object.
- An exhibition was dedicated to Fernand Pouillon at the Lyon printing museum from November 2012 to March 2013
From the Stone to the Page "Real lesson on the making of a bibliophile book"
Fernand Pouillon is also known in addition to his achievements in Algiers and the reconstruction of the old port of Marseille
for having restored the Château de Belcastel in Aveyron,
and having created, at the request of François Mitterrand, imposing terrestrial and celestial globes, which can be found in Jarnac,
in some ministries and embassies.
