- In 1970, the famous French magazine Conférence des arts named Charles Hossein Zenderoudi as one of the ten most important living artists, alongside Frank Stella and Andy Warhol.
Founder of the Saqqa-Khaneh artistic movement in Iran, he influenced several generations of Iranian artists. His ingenuity is to marry the elements of traditional Persian art, rooted in Iranian culture, with elements of modernity, in order to make it an authentic but universally appreciated and recognized art.
When Zenderoudi's works were shown for the first time at the Stadler gallery on March 12, 1970, Emmanuel Looten, poet and friend of Michel Tapié, spoke of "sacred enchantment".
At a very young age, he was fascinated by scientific theories related to time and space, in particular astrolabes and astrology, which have always been omnipresent in Persian scientific culture.
His works are exhibited in major contemporary art museums including the MoMa in New York. He is considered one of the greatest Iranian artists of our time.
