a poem that was set to music in 1976.

Mouloudji, who would have turned one hundred on September 16, 2022, left his mark on French chanson. The man who composed "L’amour, l’amour, l’amour" was even a major star in the 50s, winning people's hearts with his endearing personality and a smile tinged with melancholy.

"Mouloudji is the great forgotten figure of the legendary Saint-Germain-des-Prés set," adds Laurent Balandras. "In the neighborhood's heyday at the end of the 50s, he was the child of Sartre and Beauvoir, the little brother of Boris Vian and Juliette Gréco. In the collective image, we have retained the memory of him as a protest singer because of his interpretation of Boris Vian's 'Le Déserteur,' but he was also a singer of love. He sang a great deal of Prévert, Ferré, and Barbara."

He was a kind of maverick; he already found it extraordinary to be paid to sing. His centenary is an opportunity to discover his natural eloquence, the precision of his interpretation, and his high-quality repertoire.
