Travel notebook composed with four hands, this photographic opus sublimates the beauty, the colors and all the crafts of this Indian state, which best responds to the Western imagination of India, to the Eastern dream of the West.

Anne Guard is the author of a plastic and innovative work on industrial sites and places of memory. His gaze is a way of showing a reverse side of the Western world which escapes and resists globalization, "a kind of somnambulistic truth" (Michel Nuridsany). Architectures, cities, ports, factories, wastelands, bunkers, bridges, roads, interiors, nights... are places of predilection where his paradoxical interventions by light, color pigments and fire express a luminous tension which also crosses his black and white photographs. This in-between universe is structured by monochrome installations that are the artist's signature. At the same time, the new worlds of Asia are an active part of her imagination, which she exchanges with Laure Vernière, painter and writer.

Graduated in Contemporary Literature, Laure Verniere works on East-West transversality (Americas, Europe, Siberia, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Japan). Traveling writer and visual artist, she is the accomplice of the original four-hand travel notebooks that she produces with Anne Garde, as well as of all the writing in her photographic work. She is his literary double, in particular in their last two works Japan Express (Le Seuil, 2003) and Pondicherry Masala (Le Seuil-Le Thé des Écrivains, 2004). She is also engaged in a plastic work – polaroids, visual poems, collages, diverted objects and paintings – which she exhibits in France and abroad.
